Finsteraarhorn 4274

Wanting to climb a nice route on the Eiger in late June, we decided to go for the Finsteraarhorn. There still is so much snow on the high peaks, left over from a fine winter. This choice gave us the oportunity to climb without wading through miles of knee deep slush. Because of the exit at 2300 meters off the Oberaar Glacier, we also didn’t have to descend 1000’s of meters in ski boots carrying skis. Though we were not really looking foreward to more skiing, perfect steep corn, from 4000 to 3000 meters, got us adrenalized. We flew over this perfectly white surface. After just over 11 hours of skiing and skining, we arrived at the dam on the Oberaarsee to collapse into our car. Isn’t this summer sking?
