Sailing Croatia

The winds and waters of Croatia were fine this early June.

On our chartered Grand Soleil 45, we sailed from the Kremik marina, near Primosten, visiting the islands of Hvar, Korcula, Brac, and Vis. During 3 out of our 5 days sailing, moderate winds blew from the Northwest. What a blast it was, sailing from the tiny, uninhabited Island of Susac, back to Korcula. The winds got up to 20 knots true. We flew along, remaining close haul, making 9 knots through the building seas. This 45 ft. Grand Soleil loved the breeze, keeping us high and dry on her windward rail.

I didn't get many photos of the trip. Just one shot from the castle above Hvar is worth a look. Too bad, because seeing our yacht floating by herself, in some of these beautiful anchorages amongst the Island of Croatia, was a sight I will not forget.
