Alpine Guide Verbier

A mountain guide’s perspective on current ski and climbing conditions in and around Verbier, Switzerland.

About

I am a Swiss trained, American born, mountain guide living in Verbier, Switzerland. I guide my clients off-piste, freeride skiing, ski mountaineering, ice climbing and heli skiing in the winter, and rock climbing and mountaineering in the summer. Most of my clients are repeat clients with whom we have been sharing experiences together for many years.

I was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. I left for Vermont to go to University and experienced my first winter in 1976! Skiing offered a fantastic way to enjoy the cold North East winters, and is what brought me to Verbier in 1982. I realized quite quickly the potential for skiing and climbing in the Alps, and after meeting my wife Pia, I knew there was no going back!

Many of my climbing friends were guides and encouraged me to enter the Swiss Mountain Guide’s Training program. I began my first course in the winter of ’91 and received my UIAGM status two and a half years later.

I have become passionate about my guiding and sharing these alpine (and more recently maritime) experiences with my clients. Over the years, we have become very close friends and are able to extend our reach further and further into the mountains. I believe it is these shared experiences that make us who we are and enable us to enjoy life to its fullest.

I look foreword to sharing more of these experiences with new clients and friends. Most of the guiding I do is on a private basis. Though the winter season is a busy one for us in Verbier, and most of my days are booked well in advance in winter, I would love to hear from you about your ideas for new adventures together.
