Alpine Guide Verbier

A mountain guide’s perspective on current ski and climbing conditions in and around Verbier, Switzerland.

Couloirs of Chamois

Posted on | January 4, 2009 | 2 Comments

Happy New Year! The skiing is a bit more challenging now with the various wind events of the past 3 weeks. But with a nice base from the mountain tops to the valley bottoms, we are still finding fine adventure. Sarah, Niall and I skied a couloir full of chamois, one kilometer long and 700 meters of vertical- strait down!

The weather has been fabulous and is forecasted to remain so. It will be cold, with temperatures around -10 in the mornings around Verbier.

(Here are 4 low quality shots of the run…)

Ha! I just added 4 low quality shots from that “mobile” update of a few hours ago. I promise to start taking the camera next week! Stay tuned. :-)
