Powder adventures in Verbier

We did href="http://www.swissguides.com/trips/060221HiddenValley/index.html">one
nice run today…

The past few days have been real nice, even in
Verbier! We got to ski powder right off the lifts and then watch the Olympics in
the evening. What a combo.

It has snowed every day in varying
quantities since the 16th of February. The avalanche level has gone from level 4
(not in the official forecast!) to a low level 3 today. Yesterday saw a lot of
consolidation and compression in the snow pack. The skis were not penetrating
that deep today, making for fast turns. There are still areas of hidden danger,
but one can fly down moderate slopes now with out feeling like a huge slide will
start.

The forecast is for cooler
temperatures with the start of the bise (NE winds). Clear skies should prevail,
with some snow on the south side of the Alps this weekend.
